A Stroll Through PowerPop Heaven

So Steve Simels over at the PowerPop blog was asked to contribute to a new music blog that is doing virtual compilation tapes.  As they describe themselves:

Mixtured is a neologism, a made-up word. It’s also a fitting name for a website that offers streaming mixes created by diverse groupings of music fanatics. Mixtured is music nerds making mixes for music nerds. It employs a collaborative process to create digital mixtapes concerned with random, revolving themes. Together, the participants provide an engaging perspective on the topic.
While that sounds sort of fey and stupid and self-impressed, the results aren't!!

The debut entry on Mixtured features power pop songs by some of the best, and by some of the obscure.

And the obscure are interesting as hell.  Geoff Britton's post-Wings power pop work?  Check.  (oh, yeah -- produced by Joe Jackson).  A great Jam cover of a Beatles tune?  Check.  Mid-70s power pop by a band featuring vocals from Billy Squier [!]?  Check.

Plus usual beloved suspects Material Issue, TOmmy Keene, Shoes, and Plimsouls.

And it doesn't end there.

Methinks you just gotta go now.  RUN; don't walk!!

Oh, yeah:  I thought I should also include a picture of my dick:
