I'll tell you what's up -- in about ten years when my blog gets to 2001, Mulholland Drive will be up for five Katie awards, including best picture, actress (Naomi Watts) and director (David Lynch).

You know it has to be good ...

It's too damned conventional

in about ten years when my blog gets to 2001,

btw, this seems optimistic to me.

I sense a three-month period devoted to The Apartment, and possibly a month-long comment-war about Sefton's final gesture to the barracks in Stalag 17.

And that's just a tenth of the Wilder material you'll be reviewing. And Bellotoot will be kicking in a lot more once we get immersed in the talkies.

No, I think we're talking a lifetime's work here.

Oh, the huge manatee!

Oh, I like a traditional romantic comedy myself ...

You squeezed a post in there before my own witty comeback.

There will definitely be a post devoted to Sefton's final gesture in Stalag 17 -- it says a lot about Billy Wilder's approach to filmmaking, I think.

As for The Apartment, 1960 was a big year -- Psycho, The Apartment, Breathless, La Dolce Vita, Elmer Gantry, The Magnificent Seven -- I could spend a whole year just talking about that. And it's not even as good a year as 1959 ...

And what was 1959, you might well ask?

Some Like It Hot, North By Northwest, Rio Bravo, Ben-Hur, The 400 Blows ...
