To grossly simplify, which if I'm honest is my stock in trade, Democrats as a rule believe in and are fighting for still-bigger government, we can agree.

They have their various reasons (some, like wanting to guarantee portable health care for chronically ill children, I strongly agree with) but in the end it means a bigger federal govt.

But meanwhile i will put forth ze proposition: Republicans are of 3 main sorts: Big business establishment Republicans who worry primarily about keeping their mega-incomes free from both taxes and pesky labor troubles; social conservative/Christian right Republicans who worry primarily about abortion and sex and drugs and minorities and not necessarily in that order; and neo-cons, who worry primarily about establishing a very aggressive and interventionist foreign policy. They all say they want smaller govt., but in fact all 3 GOP factions are just fine with government getting much bigger so long as it’s pushing their pet projects. I mean, as far as I can tell.

And there is no viable third party. Thus here come the people in grey

I agree.

re: all politicos --

I don't think they're shitbags when they wake up to run for office.

I do, think, though, that they are human and find that people love them if they give stuff that people want, and then tell people that they won't have to pay for it.

and people hate them if they say "we can't pay for it. if you want it, we'll have to raise taxes"

those people get voted out of office.

we'll need our economic Pearl Harbor / 9-11 to change that

then, the people in grey [or, more likely, brown shirts] will come

I'll stick to photos of my johnson
