Cramped and Curmudgeonly, No. 18

James Bond

I was looking over the C&C post about "Live and Let Die" when I was reminded that I don't get the James Bond movie thing. I have more than a little fondness for a couple of late-era Connery Bonds [Diamonds Are Forever being a personal fave], but I really don't enjoy them, by and large.

Thus, they qualify for C&C

I am a fan of From Russia, With Love; Goldfinger; Thunderball (or as it was spoofed in Mad magazine, Thunderblah) and On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Also, back in the day when I was still traveling to argue court cases, I always appreciated that TBS seemed to show nothing but James Bond movies. Good background noise. Obviously, that was a long time ago ...

i must agree with this . . . have never really gotten into the Bond thing although I'll enjoy a snippet here or there. And I think Sean Connery is the best one, even though I've not seen every Bond flick by a long shot. Just find that I don't care deeply enough to sit through them very often . . . perhaps once a decade . . .

I'm in the Lupner place.

Since Cramped & Curmudgeonly just requires that I not really like something that's generally quite popular, I thought to include it. I don't have any strong ditaste for Bond flicks; I tried, in the mid-to-late '70s, to get into them. Unsuccessfully.

I love Corinne Clery.

My favorite Bonds were David Niven, Peter Sellers and Woody Allen in Casino Royale.
