SG Detractor

I don't understand the appeal of the Gibson SG

I will concede that George Harrison looked really good with an SG . . . .

but he looked pretty good with just about every guitar, so that doesn't count.

Appeal? Perhaps because it is much skinnier and lighter than the Les Paul (which it temporarily replaced), yet nearly as beefy-cool through the ol' amplificators.

I find the early, small pickguard ones (ala George's) to be rather attractive m'sef. Later ones, not so much.
